He Called Me Out!

I recently received a helpful email from a customer.

And in it, he essentially called me out.

Here’s an excerpt from the email:

“To take this a step further, you could demonstrate one workout from each program on YouTube. I would LOVE to watch the expert do his thing. You could talk through what you're thinking about as you exercise. Right now, the world sees you as the guy talking behind a desk. I think the world needs to see you as the guy actually moving the bells. _______ from ______ does this well. He talks AND moves, and earns respect.

Tenacious-G should also be the guy showing off his form and physique. You show your mastery, build even more trust. It's a win-win.”

He makes some good points.

First off, if you search my YouTube channel, you’ll find videos from 2020-ish of me performing different workouts from More Kettlebell Muscle.

Second, perhaps I should video more of my training sessions – or at least pieces of the training sessions related to my training programs.

I actually did this years ago when I released Kettlebell Burn EXTREME!. I filmed my last training session of the cycle, wrote extra notes in my training journal, then did a voiceover.

But third, and most honestly, the biggest hurdle or obstacle I face is that my training time is just that – it’s MINE.

It’s like a physical sanctuary – a place I go and escape from the world. The last thing I want to do is invite the world in. No offense.

As an extreme introvert (someone who recharges by being alone), this is critical for me to show up as best I can as a husband and father – especially with a pre-teen girl and a teenage boy. But, this gentleman is 100% right about the guy in a shirt talking behind a desk.

I actually was even thinking about that recently before I received his email. And one of my close friends actually told me the same thing.

So, I thought I’d record pieces of this week’s training sessions in case you were interested.

The first batch of videos are from Saturday - the first 3 work sets of Clean + Presses.

These are done with a pair of 40kg.

The second batch of videos are from Sunday, when I was wondering what my Zercher Squat was and whether I wanted to chase 405lbs or 183kg for my birthday present to myself – which . I haven’t trained the Zercher Squat since 2018/19 and my all time best was 405lbs back then. The first weight – 140kg / 308lbs was my third set. The second weight – 160kg / 352lbs was my fourth set.

I haven’t trained the Squat seriously since May of this year.

As you can see, I practice what I preach:

Lift heavy.

Lift explosively.

And manage fatigue.
